Amazon follow-up research in Oxford Circus

Amazon follow-up research in Oxford Circus

Back in May 2024 we did some exciting market research for Amazon Prime Video, hitting the bustling Oxford Street in London to gather Vox Pops about their video platform. Well, guess what? We got called back for some follow-up interviews! This time, we wanted to capture what the ‘man on the street’ (as they’d say in the US) thinks about rom-coms and foreign media!

So, on the 18th of July at 11 am, armed with our trusty Sony FX6, we hopped on the Elizabeth Line with all our gear and dove right into it.

Vox Pops in London

Amazon loved what they heard last time! This time, they were more curious about popular genres, especially Romantic Comedies. There were also some questions about foreign media in there too. We asked people broadly what they watch from overseas and how Amazon could improve their selection of alternative material. Conducting Vox Pops in London is always a blast, and we gathered some fantastic insights!

On-streets Video in London?

Compared to last time’s full-day endeavour, this shoot was a breeze to manage. We kicked off with a clear idea of the audience Amazon was looking for: people aged 20-50, with a focus on diverse voices across genders and age groups. Conducting Vox Pops is all about engaging people in casual yet insightful conversations, and Oxford Street, teeming with young adults and working professionals, was the perfect spot. Gathering young voices at the start was a cinch, although around lunchtime, we hit a bit of a lull when everyone was busy eating. Overall, it was a smooth and productive day!

Despite only needing to record 8 people, we managed to grab 10 people, 6 younger 4 older, 50/50 gendered, and mix of diverse voices.

But how did it turn out?

If you’re interested in the results of the day, we’re able to give you a little glimpse into the behind the scenes on our questions, replies, and varied opinion of Prime Video all around here:

It was an absolute pleasure handling the shoot for Amazon and meeting the amazing people of London! There’s nothing like the thrill of stopping the right people, asking the perfect questions, and capturing that ideal shot. Fingers crossed that the feedback in these videos really resonates with the Amazon Prime executive team! Personally, I’d love to see more Prime content without ads!

Keep an eye out for future Vox Pops around London, and stay tuned for more behind-the-scenes stories and media adventures!
